TubeMogul and Attributor Team for Virals

Apparently, it’s viral video tracking day at NewTeeVee! Following the news of new viral dashboard Magma, we have word that Attributor and TubeMogul are partnering. The deal brings TubeMogul’s 80,000 web content publishers onto Attributor’s platform, which indexes the web, looking for copies of their files. Rather than policing theft, the two companies will help publishers track copies of their videos using audio and visual fingerprints to see how they go viral. (See our recent feature on this topic.)

Redwood City, Calif.-based Attributor gets a pile of (small) customers out of the deal, and Emeryville, Calif.-based TubeMogul gets access to webwide measurement. (Today it monitors video stats directly from its publishers’ accounts on 5,000 different video-hosting sites.) The deal also brings TubeMogul’s offering closer to competitor Visible Measures, though TubeMogul targets the customer set of original web content producers.
