ReadWriteWeb rebrands, hires Dan Lyons as EIC

Technology blog ReadWriteWeb, which was acquired by Say Media last December, has hired “Fake Steve Jobs” author Dan Lyons as editor-in-chief. The site is also getting a tablet-friendly redesign and a new name, ReadWrite.

Apple’s big (or not so big) announcement was yesterday, but the flurry of analysis and opinions continues this morning. And most of that activity centers on Apple’s decision not to launch an iPhone 5, or even to tweak the design of its current device. Boy Genius Report documents Apple’s alleged “fall from grace,” and pulls a Reuters quote from Gartner analyst C.K. Lu who claims the company “can only sell on brand loyalty now.” Dan Frommer, on the other hand, says flatly “If you’re disappointed by the iPhone 4S, you’re nuts.” I’m with Frommer here: The new phone and platform offer plenty to maintain its current customer base and lure some new users. So I don’t expect Apple’s market share to suffer in the least as a result of yesterday’s news.
