Just designing a superb smartphone isn’t enough these days: You have to get the device components to build the handsets in a timely fashion. Due to reduced confidence in HTC, parts suppliers aren’t as interested in building parts quickly.
Shown off this week, HTC’s new One is better than the old One in several ways and it may share the same processor as the Samsung Galaxy S4. Plus you can now play with Ubuntu on a Nexus device now.
The new One has a large 4.7-inch 1080p display with 468 ppi resolution. It’s LTE-capable and runs Android Jelly Bean. In addition to a custom HTC home screen, there’s a new newsfeed feature called BlinkFeed.
Last year, HTC debuted its One line of smartphones. Now a leaked image shows that the M7 could be a new One and it looks more industrial.
Once a rising star, HTC continues to lose lustre as it not only faces increased competition from Apple and Samsung, but also due to alleged patent infringements and limitations on future products. With three issues at once, this may be the worst week in HTC’s history.

Mobile World Congress took place this week, and aside from a few Microsoft-related announcements, the show was all about Android. We saw new phones from all but Samsung, with many slated for Android 4.0. OnLive Desktop launched for Android, bringing Windows to tablets and smartphones.
Amid flagging sales, HTC announced its HTC One line of phones at the Mobile World Congress. T-Mobile is a premier launch partner for the HTC One S, which arrives this spring in the U.S. with Android 4.0, Sense 4.0 and a super-fast camera with f/2.0 aperture.
