Today in Mobile

Microsoft is drawing a lot of attention — and a few raised eyebrows — with rumors that it will support Windows Mobile 6.5 on less expensive phones as WinMo 7 comes to market next year. The inexcusable tardiness of version 7 will only hasten MSFT’s irrelevance in mobile, as Om notes, but Microsoft is only fooling itself if it thinks price points are the reason it continues to lose market share. I’m not convinced (as Om is) that Android will kill Windows Mobile, but for Redmond it doesn’t matter who the trigger man is — its days are numbered regardless.
