LinkedIn, the professional social network, says it’s adding a new user per second, for a total of 85 million members. Its audience is older and wealthier than that of other social networks, yet they’re still pretty regular – if not obsessive – users. They’re a valuable audience, though CEO Jeff Weiner says LinkedIn is making more money off its Hiring Solutions product than on advertising. After expanding into news feeds – and delivering a good way to filter Twitter – LinkedIn offers company pages (30 million of its members follow companies, perhaps half following their own, LinkedIn told me) and is experimenting with product and service recommendations.
