Legacy IT vendors used to dealing with one or two ways of delivering their products and services to market, now must handle four, five, maybe more business models as cloud computing takes off. And many, according to Accenture, are not prepared for that complexity.
Oracle is buying Taleo, a SaaS-based talent management company for $1.9 billion. Oracle said Taleo’s services will become part of the Oracle “public cloud.” Taleo could bring both more cloud credibility and more vertical expertise to Oracle’s broadening applications portfolio.
Oracle’s planned acquisition of RightNow Technologies gives the enterprise apps giant a bigger presence in SMB accounts and helps populate its planned public cloud with applications more quickly. Oracle is paying $43 a share, or roughly $1.5 billion for the SaaS company.
