I’ve been testing Sonos’ new entry-level Play:1 speaker for a little over a month now, and I’ve learned to love the device, but also gotten frustrated by some of its shortcomings.
Mote.io, the Chrome extension that turns your phone into a remote for your web browser, just added support for the Plex media center app, TuneIn’s radio streaming service and Google’s (s GOOG) Play Music service. All of these extensions were built by third-party developers, thanks to Mote.io’s API. Check out our previous story about Mote.io here.
TuneIn more than doubled its funding with a new $25 million round, and the company wants to use the money to help monetize radio online – without the need for subscription fees.
TuneIn, a free app for Windows Phone 7 handsets, streams Internet radio from more than 50,000 radio stations over Wi-Fi or a mobile broadband connection. The application can also make use of a handset’s internal FM radio, which saves battery life and data plan use.
