If you had any doubt that we are living in the future, Google today introduced visual translation tools for use with a camera phone. Specifically, the new version of its Google Goggles app can recognize pictures of words written in five languages and rapidly translate them.
Though there’s a lot of activity around real-time search, structured search, and social search, nearly all the searching we do today is for text, with text. But there are some really interesting things happening in non-text search, as well, and their potential is just beginning to show. This week, I take a look at some of the latest in image, audio and video search.
